The bride of the magician ( Japanese 魔法使いの嫁 Maho Tsukai no Yome ) is a fantasy - Manga of Kore Yamazaki . The series is published in Japan by Mag Garden in their magazine Monthly Comic Garden and in Germany by Tokyopop- Verlag.

The series is about the young girl Chise , who is bought by the magician Elias at an auction and henceforth lives with him and is taught magic.

action

After her mother's suicide, 15-year-old Japanese girl Chise is repeatedly taken in by various relatives and passed on until she finally sells herself as a slave in the hope of ending up in a place where she will not be sent away again. Elias Ainsworth bought it at auction. This magician, who appears monstrous with his tall figure and animal skull, wants to take her in as his apprentice and teach her magic. Chise is, it turns out, a Slay Vega (夜 の 愛 し 仔ス レ イ ・ ベ ガ Surei Bega , "beloved child of the night") - a person with special magical abilities. These uncontrolled abilities were also the reason why her family died and no one wanted to take her in. Since she has to die sooner or later if she does not learn to control these forces, she apprentices with Elias and lives with him and his housekeeper Silky, a banshee , in Great Britain . Elias soon shows that he is not only interested in Chise as an apprentice, but also as a young woman and calls her his future bride. But their relationship remains undetermined as they slowly get to know each other better.

Chise meets the elves of the forest who live near Elijah's house. Because of her special powers, they would like to kidnap Chise into her realm, but they always show themselves to be helpful beings. Many other magical beings also feel drawn to Chise. Together with Elias they visit the magician Lindel, who guards the land of dragons. It is one of the dragons' last refuge, where they can hide from humans. Here, on a second visit, Chise makes her wand from the branch of a tree that grew out of a dead dragon.

As a magician, Elias is repeatedly entrusted with tasks relating to supernatural incidents. These often come from Pastor Simon of the local community who oversees Elias for the church. On one of these assignments, Elias and Chise meet a black dog who is guarding the grave of his loved one. He is taken in by Chise and, as Ruth, her constant companion who is magically connected to her and who can also take on human form. On another assignment, the two meet the magician Renfred and his apprentice Alice. They fight each other and Renfred detests magicians, but eventually parting in respect. Later, Alice, who is treated very caringly by her master, and Chise become friends. Another friend Chise finds is Stella from the nearby village, whose brother she rescues from a curse. And the magical craftsman and old friend Elias' Angelica Varley quickly takes Chise in the heart and wants to support her. Other magical beings around Elias envy him the Slay Vega, want to seduce and win them over and try to see a dispute between the two. Including the immortal Cartaphilius looking for a new body.

About Elias past, Chise learns from Lindel that Elias was once picked up in the forest with no memory of his past and from then on was taken in and taught in magic. But as a being that is neither human nor fairy, he is unsure of himself and often ignorant of the life of humans and fairies alike. Again and again he behaves towards Chise like an insecure, still learning child and therefore chose her as the one who should bring the world and people's feelings closer to him. Chise wants to take on this task while she learns the magic from him. Often she has problems controlling her powers and harms herself, even if Ruth and her wand are of help. When Cartaphilius has dragons kidnapped from the land of dragons, Chise wants to free them. Together with Elias and Ruth, she succeeds, but not without overexerting herself again. In addition, she was cursed by the enraged dragon. To get rid of the curse, Ruth and Elias secretly plan to sacrifice Stella. When Chise finds out, she runs away and into Cartaphilus' arms. He promises her release from the curse, if he receives something from her powers in return. Cartaphilus, or Joseph as he calls himself, has been cursed by God to live forever after offending God's Son and is desperate in search of new bodies or a way to stop his decline. But Elias and all friends come to save Chise from the connection with Cartaphilus. You can defeat its magic. Eventually, they give Cartaphilus a place at Elias' house to find his peace while Chise forgives Elias and proposes him.
