He finds himself unable to free his family from their depressing living conditions until he meets the mysterious McCarthy in town. This makes him an unusual offer: If Raphael agrees to torture him for a film and to then kill, he pays him 50,000 $ - and Raphael agrees. The film depicts the last days in the life of the young Indian and ends with entering the factory hall, in which he will lose his life.

Reviews

Although the film was shown very successfully at the Cannes Film Festival and was highly praised by critics there , it received consistently poor reviews from US critics; Johnny Depp was so upset about this that he refused to release the film in the United States. The film has been released in Germany and in many other countries and is available on DVD.

Cinema : Depp's directorial debut is a letdown.
