action

Will Tanner is the team leader of a bounty hunter association. When he takes action against the unscrupulous businessman Raul Baccaro, he is accidentally killed. In the ensuing trial, Will loses his license and is given a suspended sentence. Then he goes back to his father Frank in the desert. He is very disappointed in his son, who has ruined the family business.

Instead of being a bounty hunter, he is now trying his hand at a tow truck driver. He meets Lange on his first mission. After he has repaired his car, the two meet for a beer. But instead of exchanging old stories, Lange tries to kill him. However, Will succeeds in overpowering and killing his old friend. Will now finds himself in a game run by Cyrus Merrick, Raul's former right-hand man. In doing so, Will's former team was forced to face him and kill him. Bets are placed on his demise or survival. The whole thing is filmed with drones and then broadcast in the betting room.

Will meets the sniper Travis. Harrigan, a loyal comrade comes to his aid, and so the two try to get by together. Finally they manage to convince the explosives expert Coioper to help them and to rebel against Cyrus. With the help of Frank they manage to find Cyrus' shelter. After Will kills Travis, Cyrus decides to become part of his game himself. In the subsequent showdown, Will can kill him.

reception

During the first part of The Condemned was rather discussed positive, the second part was rather poorly received. Dennis Harvey of Variety wrote in his review of the film that neither the actors in their roles could convince, nor the action scenes would work in any way. The dialogues are stupid and the film is made like a C-film . Not even guest star Eric Roberts could convince in his role.

In contrast, the film was favorably discussed on the Actionfreunde weblog. There the reviewer came to the conclusion that the film “despite various problems (weak showdown, predictable story, unfortunate dramaturgy, cliché figures) was definitely not perfect, but definitely entertaining and (...) crisp, short, class B action food, in which not once there is room for the hero's romance.
