The Disaster Area is a metalcore band from Munich , Bavaria .
history
The Disaster Area was founded in Munich in 2012 and consists of the five musicians Alexander Maidl ( shouts ), Franz Apfelbeck ( electric guitar , clear vocals ), Alexander Kisslinger (electric guitar), Michael Greiner ( bass ) and Christopher Zillinger ( drums ). The group used the founding year and the following year to write their own pieces. In addition, numerous appearances were made during this time. In the two years after it was founded, Sell Your Soul (2015) and Force of Destiny (2015) two singles were released. Both were recorded and produced in the recording studio Karma Recordings by Simon Yildirim ( To the Rats and Wolves ) and Daniel Haniß ( Eskimo Callboy ).
In the same year the music video for the single Sell Your Soul and the lyric video for Force of Destiny were released . The studio recordings and the video shoot were financed out of pocket. The group covered the piece Animals by the US pop group Maroon 5 . However, this cover was never released on CD. After The Disaster Area devoted itself to the studio work on the album Sell Your Soul at the end of 2015 , this was signed by the booking agency and the management Thousand Times Booking .
In addition, Niko Tsagarakis ( Monster Artists Management ), who looks after well-known German bands such as Annisokay , Emil Bulls , Arktis and also Desasterkids, took on an advisory role in management . On August 28, 2016, The Disaster Area released the cover including a music video for the song Want to Want Me by the successful pop singer Jason Derulo . The group played concerts on a national level and has already appeared with Desasterkids, Breath Atlantis, Final Story, Unleash the Sky, Madball , Groovenom and Megaherz . On May 28, 2015, the group played backstage at the Rockavaria aftershow party in Munich's cultural center .
On November 11, 2016, the debut album Sell Your Soul was released on the record labels Deafground Records and Noizgate Records . This was produced in cooperation with Simon Yildirim and recorded at Karma Recordings. Before that, the single with the accompanying music video Moments was released on October 29, 2016 , which also finds a place on the album.
In mid-May 2018 it was announced that the band had signed a contract with Redfield Records .
style
The musicians describe their music as a mix of hardcore punk , metal and pop . Due to the use of shouts and clear vocals , the style of music can be described as metalcore and post-hardcore . The group also uses electronic music elements. The Disaster Area use breakdowns , catchy melodies and hard mosh parts.
