The Long Way Home is the eighth studio album by the Ibbenbüren band Donots . It was released on March 26, 2010 on the Solitary Man Records label.

History / meaning

In 2009 the Donots recorded their eighth studio album. Some of the recorded songs could already be heard live at concerts in 2009. The preliminary single Calling hit stores on March 12th and entered the German single charts. The Long Way Home was released on March 26th and reached number 24 in the German album charts. It was the most successful album since the band's own music label Solitary Man Records was founded .

style

Unlike the previous album, the music on the album oscillates between punk indie rock influenced titles on the one hand and songs in the style of singer-songwriters and folk rock on the other. Vincent Sorg , who already produced the album Tonight's Karaoke Contest Winners and the title of the album Coma Chameleon , was the producer for all the songs. He has supported the Donots in their musical re-discovery since the last album and ensured a more multifaceted sound.

content

The lyrics of the song titles of The Long Way Home deal with the close observation of the topics loneliness, encounters, second chances in life, being on the move, relationships, loss of people and complete sacrifice for friends and for a good cause.

Cover

The cover artwork of the album are photos that together are a kind of collage, this shows a dinosaur and volcanoes made of paper, a balloon that serves as a hot air balloon and in whose basket the band is. Guido, the guitarist, is hanging from a ladder made of matches that is tied to the basket. All elements also find their place in the music video for the song Forever Ends Today .
