The Pick of Destiny is the second studio album by the American rock band Tenacious D and the soundtrack album for the film Kings of Rock - Tenacious D (originally: Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny ). It was released on November 14, 2006 by Epic Records .
History of origin
The Pick of Destiny is Tenacious D's first studio release after their self-titled debut album Tenacious D from 2001. The album was produced by John King ( Dust Brothers ). Several guest musicians can be heard on the album, who are also featured in the film of the same name. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters took over the drums on the album, John Spiker the bass. Both can also be heard as guest singers. The electric guitar was played by John Konesky . The actor Troy Gentile and the two rock singers Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio can also be heard.
Versions
The album was released in three different versions. A cleaned version got by without swear words, another "dirty version" contains the original film score. Another limited version comes in a digipak and also contains a poster, tarot cards and a replica pick , which the film is about.
successes
The soundtrack reached # 8 on the US Billboard charts and # 2 on the soundtrack charts. In England the album reached # 10 in the album charts and # 47 in Germany.

Single release
POD (the abbreviation for Pick of Destiny ) was released as the only single from the soundtrack on October 30, 2006. It was released both as a CD and as a vinyl version with different titles. The music video was directed by Liam Lynch , the film's director. The single reached # 24 in the UK charts.
