action

Stacy DeNovo is a talented young baker who runs a successful pastry shop in Chicago with best friend Kevin Richards . Kevin has a daughter named Olivia, a precocious girl who loves to dance ballet. Stacy recently split up with boyfriend Paul. A week before Christmas, Stacy learns that Kevin has entered her in a prestigious baking competition in the Kingdom of Belgravia. Stacy doesn’t want to attend at first because it’s the first Christmas without Paul. However, when she meets Paul and his new girlfriend and a friendly older man reminds her on the street that Christmas wishes can come true, Stacy agrees to fly to Belgravia with Kevin and Olivia.

Once in Belgravia, the trio go on a sightseeing tour of the city and encounter a Christmas stocking dealer who looks a lot like the older man Stacy met in Chicago. The seller advises her to make life more spontaneous. After settling into their cottage, Stacy and Kevin go to the TV studio where the competition will take place. There, Stacy meets her former classmate and rival Brianna, the defending champion of the competition. Brianna accidentally spills coffee on Stacy's apron. When Stacy tries to clean her apron, she meets Lady Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro and fiancee of Crown Prince Edward of Belgravia. Both are impressed and surprised by their identical appearance. Desperate to enjoy the time out of the spotlight, Margaret suggests switching places for two days. Reluctantly at first, Stacy agrees, especially when Margaret promises to sponsor Olivia's studies at Belgravia's summer ballet program.

Stacy and Margaret quickly teach each other about their life, behavior, and quirks to minimize suspicion. However, Olivia immediately sees the change, but covers the two. Meanwhile, Prince Edward, who was supposed to be on a business trip for the two days of the move, changes his plans and wants to spend time with his fiancée, which panics Stacy. King George senses that something is wrong with Margaret and asks his butler Frank to watch her. Stacy adapts to court life and falls in love with Prince Edward, while Margaret falls in love with Kevin and realizes that she loves a normal life. Nevertheless, both will be reunited after two days. Meanwhile, Brianna sneaks into the TV station and cuts the power cord on Stacy's mixer as a sabotage.

Frank, takes photos showing Stacy and Margaret swapping roles and presents them to the Queen. The Queen is aware of the change and feigns illness to send Edward and Margaret to their baking contest. Margaret comes to Edward about the move and admits she doesn't love him. The two rush to the competition to solve things.

At a baking competition, Stacy discovers Brianna's sabotage and has to mix her ingredients by hand. Despite the setback, Stacy and Kevin manage to bake their cake and win the competition. When Stacy realizes that Lady Margaret and Prince Edward should hand over the medals, she tries to bypass the medal display. Kevin, who doesn't suspect the change, stops her from doing it. Margaret and Stacy reveal their plan to the two men. Margaret declares her love for Kevin, while Stacy walks away, feeling out of place in Edward's royal life. Edward stops Stacy and says that he is in love with her. He makes her a marriage proposal, which Stacy accepts.

A year later, Stacy married Prince Edward and became Princess of Belgravia. Both couples and Olivia celebrate at the wedding. Margaret catches Stacy's bridal bouquet and Kevin proposes to her.
