action

At a high school in Kingston , New York, Emily Parris seeks revenge on her classmate Mary Warren by stealing Mary's cell phone during an audition and posting all of her text messages publicly calling her a blog whore. After both have to go to the trust teacher Gordy Gambhir, Mary decides to take a break from Facebook and other social media. She forms a sorority with Catherine Huang and Lavinia Hall. They meet in the woods at night and have sworn absolute secrecy about these meetings.

The sisterhood grows and Emily wants to become a member soon, but she is rejected. She secretly observes a meeting and then untruthfully claims on her blog that she was sexually abused by the sisters. Other students also make similar allegations against the sisterhood. The media also became aware of the “sex scandal” and reporters came to town. Despite constant questioning by the school and their parents, the members of the sisterhood persist in their silence.

Finally, Emily and others come up with a plan. Travis lures Lavinia, who loves him, into the woods, where she is then forced by several others to say in front of a camera that she is a witch. They drugged Lavinia and took her to a Halloween party where everyone laughed at her for watching the video from the forest. Back home, unable to sleep, she takes sleeping pills and dies from an overdose. Meanwhile, her mother Rose, together with Gordie, observes a sisterhood meeting that only consists of the girls reading out slips of paper about their wishes and problems and then burning them. At Lavinia's funeral, Emily tearfully admits that all of the abuse allegations were just imaginary because she was pissed off at not being recorded.

Reviews

The Sisterhood of Night got a good rating of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes and 60 on Metacritic . Highlighted was Georgie Henley as the film's strong lead actress, who has come a long way since starring in The Chronicles of Narnia . Inkoo Kang wrote in TheWrap that Henley was the film's queen bee. She is a good embodiment of Angelina Jolie of the " Foxfire " era: sexy and open-hearted, curious and devious, intimidating and inviting. (In the original: "There's no dethroning Henley as the film's queen bee, with the 'Chronicles of Narnia' actress doing a pretty good impersonation of 'Foxfire'-era Angelina Jolie: sexy but open-faced, curious but scheming, intimidating but inviting . ")
