Jessica Hecht

Jessica Anne Hecht (* 28. June 1965 in Princeton , New Jersey ) is an American actress .

life and career

Hecht was born in Princeton, New Jersey, in June 1965, the daughter of a doctor Richard Hecht and his wife Lenore, a psychotherapist. At the age of three, Hecht and her family moved to Bloomfield , Connecticut . After their parents divorced, Hecht and her older sister were raised by their mother and her new husband, Howard Iger. In 1987, Hecht completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University .

Since the early 1990s, Hecht has appeared regularly in television series such as Seinfeld , Law & Order , Breaking Bad and Emergency Room - Die Notaufnahme . Her best-known TV role was in the hit sitcom Friends , where she played Susan Bunch from 1994 to 2000, the lesbian partner of Ross Geller's ex-wife Carol Willick.

Hecht has also appeared in a number of television and cinema films. In 2004 she starred alongside Julianne Moore in The Forgotten and in 2009 under the direction of Woody Allen in Whatever Works . Hecht also had a supporting role in Fair Game (2010) with Naomi Watts and Sean Penn in the lead roles.

In addition to her work in front of film and television cameras, Hecht also appears in the theater. In particular, she appeared in a revival of Arthur Miller's play A View From the Bridge with Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson on Broadway . For her role as Beatrice Carbone, Hecht was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2010 , but the award went to her colleague Johansson.

The actress has been married to director Adam Bernstein since 1995 .
