Theo Zwierski

Theo Zwierski (born December 21, 1911 in Berlin ; † January 30, 1989 in Ober-Olm ) was a German film architect and production designer for television.

Live and act

Zwierski received theoretical training at the Art Academy in Berlin at the end of the 1920s and received practical training to become a theater painter and set designer. From 1930 he worked for four years as a set designer at the Städtische Bühnen in Hagen , and in 1935 he began working as the second film architect for cinema. He worked as an outfitter at Ohm Krüger in 1940. After seven years of cinema work, Theo Zwierski was drafted into military service in 1942.

In 1947 he returned to film and two years later rose to the position of chief scenographer. In the 1950s, Zwierski cooperated with colleagues Ernst H. Albrecht , Hanns H. Kuhnert and Max Mellin . During this time he was also involved in the production of film structures for US films shot in the Federal Republic. Since 1959, Zwierski designed production sets for television. He was employed by WDR until 1966 , then, until his retirement, with ZDF .
