Theodor Humpert

Theodor Humpert (born June 29, 1889 in Mannheim , † March 17, 1968 in Konstanz ) was a German teacher and historian.

Live and act

Theodor Humpert was the son of a master baker in Mannheim, where he attended the Grand Ducal Gymnasium . He studied in Freiburg i. Br. And Heidelberg, most recently in Würzburg, where he was awarded a doctorate in 1913 with a dissertation on the territorial development of Kurmainz between the Main and Neckar. phil. received his doctorate. At the same time, he passed the elementary school teacher examination at the Heidelberg teacher training college in 1910 and the real teacher examination in Karlsruhe in 1911. Humpert spent his professional life in the Baden school service, first from 1914 as a real teacher and citizen school director in Schönau in the Black Forest , from 1920 as rector or director of the elementary and citizen school in Gaggenau , whose direction he had to relinquish in 1933. This was followed by a transfer to the humanistic grammar school in Konstanz, where he taught German, history, geography and English. In 1956 he ended his career as senior teacher.

In addition to his full-time employment as a teacher, Humpert opened up the history of his respective places of activity and their surroundings and wrote a large number of books and essays with predominantly local history. He belonged to the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings , to whose writings he contributed. In the district of Constance he worked as a volunteer archive administrator.

Theodor Humpert was with Elsa, geb. Thoma, married and had two daughters.
