Theodor Lenckner

Theodor Lenckner (born July 14, 1928 in Schwäbisch Hall ; † November 5, 2006 in Tübingen ) was a criminal law scholar at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .

Life

Lenckner, who grew up as a pastor's son in Hohenlohischen and Brenztal, began studying law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen in the winter semester of 1948/49 , which he completed in autumn 1952 with a brilliant first state examination in law. Lenckner passed the assessor exam in Stuttgart in the spring of 1957 . He received his doctorate in 1957 with a dissertation on litigation fraud , supervised by Wilhelm Gallas . With the criminal law scholar Horst Schröder he qualified as a professor at his chair in Tübingen in 1963 with the text “Der justifying emergency” and received the venia legendi for criminal law and procedural law. In 1964 he became a professor in Münster, and in 1972 he returned to the University of Tübingen , to which he remained until his retirement in 1996. During this time he was also involved in various ways for the needs of disabled people and was a member of the board of the " Physically Disabled Support Neckar-Alb eV (KBF) " as well as a founding member and chairman of the association "Help for the disabled" in Mössingen . In 1999 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class, for his scientific merits and his commitment to the care of the disabled . He had been a member of the Roigel Royal Society of Tübingen since his studies .

Scientific work

Lenckner was an important dogmatist of German criminal law; With his teachings, he has influenced federal German criminal justice and criminal law studies in equal measure. His name is particularly closely linked to the commentary on the penal code in the criminal law commentary "Schönke / Schröder". After the death of Horst Schröder, Lenckner continued his commentary together with three other students ( Peter Cramer , Albin Eser and Walter Stree ) of his teacher, from the 18th edition (1975) to the 27th edition (2006).
