biography
Borssén was first taken to the ski slopes by her father when she was two, and she competed in her first race when she was seven. At the age of 15, she switched to the ski academy in Järpen and began to concentrate largely on skiing. In the same year she made the leap into the Swedish junior national team. From January 2000 she took part in FIS races , where she was able to celebrate the first victory at this level in December of the same year. Appearances in the European Cup followed from February 2001. At the Junior World Championships 2003 in Montgenèvre she just missed a medal as fourth in the slalom, also a year later in Maribor .
After some successes, Borssén made her World Cup debut on November 28, 2003 at the Park City giant slalom . The following day she won her first World Cup points with 13th place in the slalom. She was able to classify three times in the 2003/04 season in the top ten (each as ninth), twice in the 2004/05 season. On January 8, 2006 Borssén achieved a podium finish for the first time as third in the Maribor slalom . After another two third places at the beginning of the 2006/07 season, she celebrated her first and only World Cup victory on December 29, 2006 in the night slalom at Semmering . The fourth place in the slalom discipline classification of the 2006/07 season was the best of her career.
At their first world championship in February 2005 Borssén surprisingly finished fifth in the slalom. A year later she achieved eighth place in the slalom at her Olympic premiere in Turin . At the 2007 World Championships in Åre , she finished seventh in this discipline, but only came in 21st at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . She had one failure in the first slalom run at the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère and 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen to be recorded.
Borssén achieved another World Cup podium in January 2008 and March 2009. After that, she could not quite reach her previous level of performance, but was always one of the 15 best slalom runners in the world rankings and regularly achieved top 10 results. Due to strong competition within the team, she was not given a starting opportunity for the 2013 World Cup . In January 2013, Borssén announced that she would be stepping down at the end of the season.
