The Thesis is a font family that essentially consists of four font families: TheSans, TheSerif, TheMix and the later added TheAntiqua. The original briefs were developed in 1994 by the Dutchman Lucas de Groot . Since then he has enriched it with numerous font variations at regular intervals. Today, the Thesis collection, with over 500 different weights, is probably the most extensive font family. Most of the font styles in this family, with the exception of the small caps variants, use old style figures with normal keyboard layout, but standard figures are also available.
TheSans
TheSans is a sans serif linear antiqua . It is the corporate font of various well-known brands, including the yellow pages , the supermarket chain Plus , the drugstore DM , the ARD , the German Society for Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS) and several universities, such as the University of Hamburg (own variant). The University of Bonn , the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Konstanz as well as the NordWestBahn use TheSans in their logo, as does the GameStar magazine in a slightly modified form. The Swiss telecommunications company Swisscom has also been using TheSans for various publications since 2007, as well as in their logo.
The SPD uses the thesis for all publications and in election campaigns, especially the cut TheSans Black . Excluded is the parliamentary group of the SPD that the since 2007 FF Sanuk by Xavier Dupré recourse. There is even a version of the font specially designed for the SPD, the SPD 2002 TheSans .
TheSerif
TheSerif is a serif linear Antiqua or Egyptienne .
TheMix
TheMix is a semi-serif font, so the name refers to the mixture of serif and sans serif font. It is the corporate font of Europa-Park , the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences and is used in the logo of the Berlin Senate.
TheAntiquaB
TheAntiquaB is a French Renaissance Antiqua , which is characterized by a large x-height and the absence of fragile forms. It is particularly suitable for newspaper printing and also cuts a fine figure on the screen. Among other things, it is used by ARD - together with the other thesis variants - as a corporate font. In addition to TheAntiquaB, there are also adjustments such as TheAntiquaSun (for Sun Microsystems ) and TheAntiquaE / QuaText (for the Berlin daily taz ).
