Thierry Marie Jacques Brac de la Perrière (born June 17, 1959 in Lyon ) is Bishop of Nevers .

Life

He attended the Saint-Marc school in Lyon and then studied modern literature in Lyon, which he graduated with a licentiate . After he had done his military service, he entered the seminary of Lyon in September 1982 and began studying Catholic theology , which he also completed with a degree.

Ordained a deacon in 1987 , he found his first job in the parish of Sainte-Bernadette de Caluire . After his ordination on June 19, 1988, he remained a chaplain in Caluire until 1994 . From 1994 to 2001 pastor of the Church of Notre-Dame-du-Point-du-Jour in Lyon, he was then at Sainte-Trinité in Lyon. From 2002 to 2003 he was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Lyon.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Zallata and auxiliary bishop in Lyon on April 15, 2003 . Archbishop Philippe Barbarin donated him episcopal ordination on May 25, 2003 in the Cathedral of Lyon ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Viviers , François Blondel , and the Bishop of Le Mans , Jacques Faivre .

On August 27, 2011 he was received by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Nevers to succeed François Deniau .

Criminal proceedings against Cardinal Philippe Barbarin and Archbishop Maurice Gardès and Bishop Brac de la Perrière themselves for covering up sexual abuse were opened on January 7, 2019.
