The Thomas-Strittmatter-Gymnasium (short: TSG ) is a high school in St. Georgen in the Black Forest . It is located together with the city's secondary school in a building with a shared schoolyard and a shared break hall . The Thomas-Strittmatter-Gymnasium is one of the highest-altitude high schools in Germany. The building is 900 meters above sea level .

The grammar school was built in 1975 at the same time as the municipal indoor swimming pool and the city hall. In the immediate vicinity there are further stadiums, sports fields and tennis courts. That is why this complex was called the sports and school center . This allows all students to take swimming lessons without leaving the school premises. The sports hall and the stadium, which is the highest in Germany, can also be used for physical education . The grammar school was named in 2003 after the St. Georgen writer Thomas Strittmatter , who was a student of the grammar school himself. Since the 2005/2006 school year, the TSG has had the first EduBook class in Germany, which came about as a result of the 2006 education offensive . Furthermore, the TSG has been a Club of Rome school since 2006 , which opened up numerous opportunities for school operations. In addition to many local sponsors, representatives of the high school regularly attend Club of Rome meetings, and there are Clube of Rome student representatives.

The grammar school is attended by around 530 students. At grammar school, which is rare for a school of this size, you can choose between three school profiles. The school offers a science, a language (with Spanish lessons ) and a music profile. In addition to St. Georgen in the Black Forest, the pupils' catchment area includes the neighboring communities (including Tennenbronn , Königsfeld , Mönchweiler , Triberg ). In the course level, cooperation courses with grammar schools in Triberg and Furtwangen enable a wide range of subjects.

Until 2005, the grammar school had a school partnership with the College d'Esterel in the twin town of Saint-Raphaël in southern France . Due to the declining interest of the local students in German lessons , exchanges with a school near Quimper in Brittany have been taking place since 2006 . There were also student exchanges with Albuquerque, New Mexico ( USA ) for a long time. Also in 2006 pupils took part in the EU's Comenius project , together with pupils from St. Raphaël and Krakow ( Poland ).

The TSG was also once represented by a student in a star TV show . The subject was school uniforms . The TSG is one of the grammar schools in Baden-Württemberg where some of the students want to introduce uniform school clothes that can be worn voluntarily and that have also been designed by students.
