Thomas Brennicke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thomas Brennicke (born November 1, 1946 in Munich ; † December 3, 2007 there ) was a German radio presenter . As a longtime presenter of the hit parade show Die Schlager der Woche and the German Schlagerparade , he shaped the face of the radio waves Bayern 3 and Bayern 1 of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (BR). From 1991 until his death he was the BR department head for "light music".

Career

Brennicke grew up in Munich and attended a humanistic grammar school there. After graduating from high school and passing the acting exam in the same year, he studied German, music and theater studies. This was followed by his first engagements as assistant director, actor and director at the Munich State Theater on Gärtnerplatz and at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. He also had extensive musical training in the flute, piano, drums and classical singing.

Radio recording of the program “Die Schlager der Woche” from July 1983. Example of Brennicke's separation of the moderation from the pieces of music in favor of private recordings.

When he was three, Brennicke sat in a radio studio for the children's radio for the first time. In 1966 Brennicke came to Bayerischer Rundfunk, where he initially worked as a speaker. In 1974 he was hired as a music editor and presenter. In 1975 he took over the presentation of the hit parade programs Die deutsche Schlagerparade and Die Schlager der Woche in the radio programs Bayern 1 and Bayern 3 and thus became one of the station's defining voices. A special moderation feature is that Brennicke avoided overlapping the music with moderations. So the listeners could only record the music. As an editor he anticipated trends and is considered to be the discoverer of Fredl Fesl , Konstantin Wecker and Gianna Nannini .

In 1991 he took over the “light music” department at BR and withdrew from the Bayern 3 program in 1992 as part of a new concept for the wave . He later took over the management of DAB radio Bayern mobil and presented the Phono-Shop program on Bayern 2 .

His parents were the director, actor and author Helmut Brennicke and the actress Rosemarie Lang . His brother Michael Brennicke and his adopted daughter Nadeshda Brennicke also learned the acting subject.

Brennicke died in December 2007 after a brief serious illness at the age of 61. His urn grave is in Dießen am Ammersee on the Riederau community cemetery.
