Thomas Fischer (born February 7, 1986 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a German freestyle skier . He specializes in the discipline of ski cross . He is the son of the former biathlete Fritz Fischer .

Career

Fischer began his career in 2002 as an alpine skier , until 2006 he mainly competed in FIS races . In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons he started in the European Cup , in which he predominantly placed in midfield. In February 2007 he had his debut in the World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , which he finished with 53rd and 49th place in the downhill.

For the 2009/10 season he switched to freestyle skiing . There he took part in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in San Candido for the first time in December 2009 , which he finished in 27th place in ski cross. In January 2011 he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup with tenth place in Grasgehren . At the subsequent World Championships in 2011 in Deer Valley , he finished 24th in ski cross. In 2012 he became German ski cross champion in Obermaiselstein . In the 2010/11 season he achieved his best World Cup placement to date with sixth place in San Candido. He achieved this result again in January 2014 at the World Cup race in Val Thorens . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he reached 16th place in ski cross.

In January 2018 he ended his sporting career due to injury.
