Thomas Wolfgang Jöbstl (born September 22, 1995 ) is an Austrian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2013 in the Czech city of Liberec , he was used in the team competition. Together with Franz-Josef Rehrl , Paul Gerstgraser and Philipp Orter , he won the silver medal behind Germany and ahead of Japan.

On February 9, 2014, he was able to compete for the first time in the Alpencup at the competition in Kranj . In Chaux-Neuve he had his second competition on March 8, 2014. One year after his first win, he was able to win again in Kranj on February 14, 2015. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2015 in the Kazakh city of Almaty , he was again used in the team competition and together with Bernhard Flaschberger , Noa Ian Mraz and Paul Gerstgraser, he was Junior World Champion before Germany and Norway.

On January 14th, 2018 he finished ninth after jumping at the Continental Cup in Ruka and won his first Nordic Combined Continental Cup victory in cross-country ahead of his compatriot Martin Fritz and the Norwegian Harald Johnas Riiber . At the Continental Cup in Rena he finished 13th in jumping and was able to secure his second Continental Cup victory in cross-country skiing ahead of his compatriot Bernhard Flaschberger and the Norwegian Jens Lurås Oftebro .

He made his debut on January 26, 2018 at the Nordic Combined Triple in Seefeld in the Nordic Combined World Cup . During his first use he was disqualified while jumping due to a non-compliant suit. At the World Cup in Hakuba on February 3, 2018, he was able to finish his first race and finished it in 33rd place, which meant that he could not collect any World Cup points. He collected his first World Cup points a day later in Hakuba . After taking 32nd place in ski jumping, he was able to work his way up to 26th place in cross-country skiing, so that he was able to collect five World Cup points.
