Thomas Hunter Campbell McDonell (born May 2, 1986 in Manhattan , New York ) is an American film actor and musician .

Life

McDonell was born in Manhattan , New York , in May 1986 to Joanie, a writer, and Terry McDonell, executive editor of Sports Illustrated . His brother Nick is also a writer .

When he lived in Shanghai , he took part in a casting call on a whim. He got the role of young Southie in the martial arts film The Forbidden Kingdom , in which he played alongside Jet Li and Jackie Chan . Since the film ran successfully in theaters, he got other roles. This was followed by a guest role in Criminal Intent - crime in sight . In 2010 he starred in the drama Twelve , based on his brother Nick's novel of the same name. He played the young Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows in 2012 . In the same year he starred alongside Victoria Justice as her crush Aaron Riley in Fun Size - Trick or Treat . He previously played the main male role of Jesse Richter in the Walt Disney youth film Prom - The Night of Your Life .

In 2012 he received a supporting role in the ABC - Comedy Series Suburgatory . There he could be seen as Scott Strauss until 2013 . From March 2014 he played the role of Finn Collins in The-CW - science fiction television series The 100 .

In addition to acting, he is the singer and guitarist of the band Moon . He is also active as an artist for several media.
