Thomas Schärtl-Trendel

Thomas Schärtl-Trendel (born June 6, 1969 in Vohenstrauß ) is a German Roman Catholic philosopher .

Life

After graduating from the Augustinus-Gymnasium Weiden (humanistic branch) in 1988, he studied Catholic theology at the University of Regensburg and at the LMU Munich and philosophy at the University of Philosophy from 1988 to 1997 . From 1992 to 1995 he was a scholarship holder of the Hanns Seidel Foundation . In 1995 he obtained his diploma in Catholic theology in Regensburg . From 1996 to 1998 he was a research assistant (full-time) with Wolfgang Beinert (Dogmatics, Regensburg). In 1997 he obtained his Magister Artium in Philosophy in Munich .

From 1998 to 2001 he worked on a doctoral project at the University of Tübingen , Catholic theology (doctoral supervisor: Peter Hünermann ). From 1998 to 1999 he was a research assistant (full-time) with Ulrich G. Leinsle (Philosophical-Theological Propaedeutics, Regensburg). From 1999 to 2001 he received a doctoral scholarship from the Hanns Seidel Foundation. After graduating in 2001 as Dr. theol. with the work »Theo-Grammar. On the Logic of Speech Vortrinitarian God «he was a research assistant (full-time) from 2001 to 2003 at Josef Meyer zu Schlochtern (Fundamental Theology, Paderborn ). From 2003 to 2006 he was a research assistant (C1) with Klaus Müller (Philosophical Basic Questions in Theology, Münster ). From 2006 to 2009 he was Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology at the School of Theology, Catholic University of America .

After completing his habilitation in 2007 (Dr. phil. Habil.) At the University of Philosophy in Munich with the thesis »Faith-Belief. Philosophical remarks on the epistemology of the Christian faith. «He taught from 2009 to 2015 as a professor (W2) for philosophy at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Augsburg , since 2010 co-opted at the Philosophical-Social Science Faculty. In 2014 he taught as a visiting professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Dayton . Since 2015 he has been Professor (W3) for basic philosophical questions in theology at the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Regensburg. In 2014 and 2016 he had lectureships in religious philosophy at the University of Philosophy in Munich.
