Thomas Steven Molnar

Thomas Steven Molnar , Hungarian. Molnár Tamás István (born July 26, 1921 in Budapest , † July 20, 2010 in Richmond (Virginia) , USA ) was a Hungarian - American Catholic philosopher , historian and political theorist .

Life

Molnar was the only child of Molnár Sándor and Blon Aranka. From 1944 to 1948 he studied at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium and then moved to Columbia University in New York City, where he received his Ph.D. PhD in philosophy and history. From 1957 to 1967 he taught at Brooklyn College . He then worked as a professor at Long Island University (1967), at the University of Potchefstroom in South Africa (1969), at Hillsdale College (Michigan) (1973-74), Yale University (1983) and Universidad de Mendoza (Argentina) .

After the political change in Hungary he was also visiting professor for religious studies at the University of Budapest , taught at the Catholic Péter Pázmány University and was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 1995 .

As the author of over 40 books and articles in French and English, he has written on a wide variety of topics in the fields of religion, politics, and education.

Molnar said he was inspired by Russell Kirk's The Conservative Mind .

Molnar was married and has one son.
