Thomas Venker (born June 11, 1971 in Stuttgart ) is a German author and music journalist .

Life

Thomas Venker studied sociology and political science at the University of Stuttgart . He has published for German daily newspapers and monthly magazines such as Süddeutsche Zeitung , Tagesspiegel Berlin , Stuttgarter Nachrichten , Spex , Groove, and Stadtrevue since the early 1990s , and published the multimedia magazine Harakiri between 1992 and 1999 and various books in the noughties. From 2000 to 2014 he was editor-in-chief of Intro magazine , since 2010 also director media content of the Hörstmann group of companies and in this position responsible for the media Greatest, PutPat, Sneaker Freaker, Splash Mag and Festivalguide. Since March he has been working with Linus Volkmann as publisher and editor-in-chief of Kaput - magazine for insolvency & pop . Thomas Venker has been running various electronic music labels (onitor, Scheinselbständig, Cereal Killers) since the early 1990s. a. Records by Sid LeRock, Gustavo Lamas, Takashi Wada, Dj Koze and Luomo have been released. In 2011, together with the former Tomlab Art Director Jan Lankisch, he founded the label for artist records Edition Fieber, on which Cosima von Bonin , Kai Althoff , Raymond Pettibon , Terence Koh, John Bock and David Shrigley have published to date . Thomas Venker lives and works in Cologne and Berlin.
