Thorpe local history museum

The Thorpe Heimatmuseum in a local museum on Engelsburger Strasse in Eppendorf in the Wattenscheid district of Bochum . The carrier is the Eppendorfer Heimatverein . The word Thorpe is derived from the old place name Eppendorf, Abbingthorpe (Thorpe means village). The courtyard and the museum barn are also used as event locations.

history

In 1988 the Eppendorfer Heimatverein was founded. In the following years, original half-timbered buildings were dismantled elsewhere after centuries and rebuilt in Eppendorf. A large part of the construction work was carried out by members of the Eppendorfer Heimatverein. On June 6, 1998 the foundation stone for the farmer's barn was laid. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on October 24, 1998. On July 12, 2002 the topping-out ceremony for the second construction phase of the Thorpe Museum was celebrated.

Exhibits

In particular, farm equipment will be exhibited. Domestic facilities are shown in the buildings, including bedrooms, sewing and ironing rooms, utility kitchen, maids 'room, servants' room and others. In the attic of the barn there is a nesting place of barn owls .
