The Thure (also: Tûre ) is a river that runs in the border area of Belgium and France , in the Belgian region of Wallonia and the French region of Hauts-de-France . It rises near the village of Sautin , in the area of the Belgian municipality of Sivry-Rance , initially drains in a westerly direction, then swings to the northwest at Sivry-Rance and reaches French territory and the Avesnois Regional Nature Park for the first time in Hestrud . From here the Thure runs in a northerly direction, passes the town of Cousolre , shortly afterwards crosses Belgian national territory again for about 1.5 km at Bersillies-l'Abbaye , municipality of Erquelinnes , and forms the national border between Belgium and France for another kilometer then finally changes to Belgium, where after a total of about 25 kilometers it flows into the canalized Sambre as a right tributary near Solre-sur-Sambre , municipality of Erquelinnes . On its way, the Thure crosses the Belgian province of Hainaut and the French department of North .
