Events

GoPro published on August 15, 2013 that Jeb Corliss was the first to fly in a wingsuit through "Tianmen Cave", "Heaven's Gate in Tianmen Mountain", a naturally created window in the mountain. A wingsuit plane typically flies 50 knots, i.e. 80 km / h. The window is 2.5 km horizontally and about 500 m lower than the jump platform.

The World Wingsuit League hosted the first and second wingsuit world championships in Tianmen. On October 8, 2013 Viktor Kováts fell to his death during a training jump for the second World Cup when he could not open his parachute.

In February 2018, Ho-Pin Tung drove a Range Rover Sport up the 999 steps of the 45-degree staircase to the Gate of Heaven.

On September 2, 2019 Romain Dumas drove the VW ID.R electric racing car on the 10.9 km long mountain road to the Himmelstor.
