The Tide is a hydrographic measuring ship of the Federal Republic of Germany.

history

The ship was built in 1989/90 under the construction number 37147 at the Deutsche Industrie-Werken in Berlin . The keel was laid on August 28th, the launch on December 14th, 1989. Completion took place in March 1990.

The ship is used by the Weser-Jade-Nordsee Waterways and Shipping Office on the Lower and Outer Weser for aquatic measurements (current, flow and water level measurements as well as water quality measurements) and level control trips.

Namesake of the ship, also known as tides are tidal .

The ship is powered by a six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engine from the manufacturer Motorenwerke Mannheim (type: TBD 604 BL 6) with an output of 514 kW . The engine acts on a fixed propeller via a gearbox . The ship reaches a speed of 12 knots .

In the bow of the ship there is a cross- jet control system designed as a water jet drive with an output of 145 kW. The hull of the ship is reinforced with ice ( ice class "E").

Two generators are available to generate electricity . The main generator has 240 kVA , the harbor generator 53 kVA apparent power .
