The Uwe Jens Lornsen is a survey ship of the waterway and shipping office Tonning . The shipowner is the Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Development .
history
The ship was ordered by the mechanical engineering department for the then Tönning Waterways and Shipping Authority. It was built in 1998/99 under the construction number 3189 by the Berlin plant of the German inland shipyards. The keel was laid on April 20, 1998, the launch on February 20, 1999. The ship was completed in March 1999.
The ship entered service on March 30, 1999. It replaced a predecessor ship of the same name. The ship is named after the lawyer of the Danish government Uwe Jens Lornsen (1793–1838).
The ship is used in the area of the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and on the Eider for depth and structural bearings , inspections and water science tasks.
Technical data and equipment
The ship is powered by two six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engines made by MTU Friedrichshafen, each with an output of 275 kW . The motors act via gears on two rudder propellers designed as twin propellers . The ship reaches a speed of up to 11.5 kn .
Two generators with an apparent power of 35 kVA each and an auxiliary generator with an output of 6.6 kW are available for the power supply.
The ship is equipped with a fan -assisted navigation system and a satellite-based positioning system ( differential GPS ). The surveying system will be replaced in 2015 by the type EM2040C from Kongsberg Maritime . There is a working crane on the aft deck , which u. a. can be used for launching the dinghy brought along .
