Tiefenrausch is a ska-punk band that was founded in Berlin in 1997 and mainly played its own German-language pieces.

Band history

In their early years, Tiefenrausch played a mixture of ska and rock , to which punk was soon added as a further music style. At that time the band mainly gave concerts in small Berlin clubs and released their first studio and live recordings in small numbers in 1998 and 1999. The piece Queen Winter , which the band has re-recorded in a revised version in 2006, dates from this period and at that time was one of the most popular pieces of nitrogen narcosis.

In 2001 the first major concerts began. B. in Razzle Dazzle , which is characterized by punk rock, to significantly increase the band's popularity. This time was recorded in the play of the same name, Razzle Dazzle . Also this year Tiefenrausch gave their first concert on May 1st , shortly afterwards they played for the first time in the Rio Reiser House in Fresenhagen . In 2002, many open-air concerts followed in northeast Germany, which made the band known outside of Berlin.

In 2003 Tiefenrausch released the first studio album, roboterrevolution , named after the socially critical piece of the same name, which tells of the uprising of constantly working robots that are being exploited by people and are now rebelling. Together with the track Ska-Vampir also included on this album , these two tracks became hymns of Tiefenrausch. From now on, robots and ska vampires were symbols of Tiefenrausch and were repeatedly used on posters, T-shirts, buttons, concerts and the homepage. The album roboterrevolution is strongly influenced by Max Heidelberger's solo saxophone and is even rougher than the later albums.

Tiefenrausch made his breakthrough in Berlin in 2004. After the first appearance at SO36 in Kreuzberg as the opening act for the Busters , Tiefenrausch even managed to sell out the cult club at her own concert a month later. In October they rented the Columbiahalle for the record release party of the second studio album Heut 'ist alles so perfect and played there in front of 2500 spectators. On this album Tiefenrausch can be heard for the first time with a full brass section , consisting of tenor saxophone , alto saxophone , trumpet and trombone . The album was released on the SKARO-Records label founded by singer Ludwig Westarp in the same year and is distributed throughout Germany by Buschfunk .

2005 played Tiefenrausch at the birthday party of Lanrue with One Ton , the Tiefenrausch mentioned as one of her role models. Their song Der Traum ist aus is the only cover piece by Tiefenrausch, released in 2004 as a bonus track on Heut 'ist alles so perfect . In the same year, the band's first live album, Live im tRÄNENpALAST, was released. A year later, Tiefenrausch released their third studio album, Enfant Terrible , which is musically more diverse than the previous albums and includes, among other things, a calm version of Tonight played as a ballad .

In September 2007 the band celebrated their tenth anniversary with a free concert in SO36 , to which former musicians had also traveled and for some pieces the cast of the robot revolution was back on stage together. On the occasion of this birthday a collection with various fan articles such as shoes, sweaters, jackets and bags was released.

Today Tiefenrausch is one of the most famous German-speaking ska bands and is particularly important in the Berlin ska scene. Nevertheless, the band is controversial, especially among fans of traditional Ska music because of their German-language lyrics and distorted guitars. Many fans of the band, however, appreciate the fast rhythms, lyrics and the punk gesture of the band, with which Tiefenrausch stands out from other ska bands in Germany.

On August 1st, 2008, the band announced the end of their 11-year history on their homepage. The farewell was celebrated on December 12, 2008 with a concert in SO36 , where the band played a total of eleven times - more often than in any other club.

A good seven years after their farewell concert at SO36, the band will also play their reunion concert there on May 27, 2016.
