It makes heavy use of a database and was originally developed for MySQL ; with the help of the database abstraction library ADOdb , it also supports PostgreSQL , Oracle , Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server . TikiWiki runs on every web server including Apache and Microsoft's IIS that supports the required PHP version and one of the databases mentioned.

internationalization
TikiWiki is an international project that offers translations of the user interface into many languages. The standard interface is in English , but TikiWiki supports every language that can be displayed in UTF-8 . As of September 29, 2005, TikiWiki has been completely translated into eight languages and 90% or more of the other five languages are available. Translations are available for a total of 35 languages. A list of languages and their current translation progress is available on the TikiWiki website.
There is also a German translation, from version 6 onwards (i.e. since autumn 2010 at the latest) this is almost 100% and therefore complete and up-to-date. The translation of new functions into German is usually still in the development phase.
The community has a small but helpful German-speaking user group or German language user group.
Translations for menus and your own adjustments can easily be carried out by yourself; there are a number of resources in the software and in the community such as: B. a translation assistant and a dedicated website for translations of the software into the various languages.
