Tina Marie Thompson (born February 10, 1975 in Los Angeles , California , United States ) is a former basketball player. At the beginning of her professional career, she won the championship of the professional league Women's National Basketball Association four times in a row with the Houston Comets from 1997 to 2000 . In 2013 she ended her career with the Seattle Storm after having worked internationally in Italy , South Korea , Russia and Romania . With the US women's selection , she won the Olympic gold medal twice at the 2004 and 2008 Games .
On March 31, 2018, Thompson's induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame was announced.

college
Tina Thompson played for the Trojans at the University of Southern California for a short time in 1997 .
Women's National Basketball Association
In 1997 she was first selected by the Houston Comets in the WNBA Draft . She was also a member of the legendary Comets team, which won the WNBA championship four times from 1997 to 2000. At the end of her career in the WNBA, she played for the Los Angeles Sparks and Seattle Storm . After the 2013 season, she ended her long career.
Up to this point, she played in 17 WNBA seasons in the regular season 496 games, she was 470 times in the starting lineup and scored 7,488 points, 3,070 rebounds and 803 assists. In 47 playoff games (44 of them in the starting line-up) she scored 609 points, 316 rebounds and 71 assists. She has the second most points of any WNBA player to date , after Lisa Leslie . Tina Thompson was selected for her achievements in the WNBA both in 2006 in the WNBA All-Decade Team, which consists of ten players, and in the WNBA's Top 15 Players of All Time for the league's 15th anniversary in 2011 .
Europe
During the WNBA season break, Thompson played like many WNBA players regularly in Europe. Since 2001 she has been there for teams from Italy, Russia and Romania. Most recently she played for the Romanian club CSM Târgovişte in the 2009/10 season .
National team
Cooper won the bronze medal with the US women's basketball team at the 2006 World Basketball Championship in Brazil after missing out on the 1998 World Cup in Germany due to an injury.
In 2004 and 2008 she won the gold medal with the US national basketball team at the Summer Olympics in Athens and Beijing .
