Tobias Kammerlander (born March 25, 1986 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian Nordic combined athlete . During his active time he started for the Austrian club SC St. Johann in Tirol .

Career

Tobias Kammerlander made his international debut in 2002 at an FIS race and on January 10, 2004 he competed in the Nordic Combined B World Cup for the first time . In the same year he took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Stryn , Norway . In the sprint competition, he finished 29th. A year later he was used in all three competitions at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Rovaniemi, Finland . After finishing 30th and 29th in the sprint and Gundersen competitions, he and the Austrian team finished the team competition in sixth place.

In the 2005/06 season Tobias Kammerlander was able to win an international FIS race for the first time. In St. Moritz on December 10, 2005, he prevailed in the Gunderson competition ahead of Kevin Roeder and Alfred Rainer and one day later he was behind Alfred Rainer in the sprint competition. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2006, he was used in all three competitions. After taking 21st place in the Gunderson and Sprint competitions, he formed the Austrian team together with Tomaž Druml , Marco Pichlmayer and Alfred Rainer . In the team competition, the quartet took second place behind Germany and ahead of Norway.

After Tobias Kammerlander was able to further improve his performance in the B World Cup in the following two years and was able to win the Continental Cup competition in Vancouver on December 18, 2008 in front of the US-American Todd Lodwick and the German Matthias Menz , he was finally allowed on 27 December 2008 in Oberhof made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup and achieved the points straight away with 22nd place. After further good placements within the points, he finished the 2008/09 season in 41st place in the overall World Cup ranking. In the 2008/09 Continental Cup he celebrated his second win in the Continental Cup on March 15, 2009 in Rovaniemi .

On January 10, 2010 Tobias Kammerlander started at the Continental Cup in Otepää and secured his third Continental Cup victory in the Gunderson competition ahead of Thomas Kjelbotn from Norway and Mark Schlott . On January 24, 2010 he was used together with Wilhelm Denifl , Lukas Klapfer and Marco Pichlmayer in the team competition in Schonach , which was part of the 2009/10 World Cup . The quartet took third place behind Germany and France. On January 16, 2011, he completed his best race in the Nordic Combined World Cup . At the World Cup in Seefeld he finished 12th after jumping and improved to 9th place in cross-country skiing. At the end of the season he finished 34th in the overall World Cup 2010/11 with a total of 59 points, tied with Christian Beetz . The 34th place was his best result in the overall Nordic Combined World Cup.

Tobias Kammerlander celebrated his fourth and final victory in the Continental Cup on January 7, 2012. In Erzurum , Turkey , he prevailed over the two Norwegians Thomas Kjelbotn and Ole Martin Storlien . After he was able to achieve further good results in the Continental Cup in the 2011/12 season, he was back on the World Cup team in the following season. But he could not build on the good performance in the Continental Cup and was only able to achieve a top 10 result with sixth place with the Austrian relay on December 2, 2012 in Kuusamo . In the following season he was able to achieve his second and last individual top 10 result in the World Cup. At the World Cup in Tchaikovsky he finished 16th after the jumping and was able to improve to tenth place in cross-country skiing.

He completed his last race in the World Cup on January 24, 2015 in Sapporo and was able to collect World Cup points with 30th place. In Ramsau , he contested his last race in the Continental Cup on February 14, 2015, and with 31st place fell short of expectations. After the 2014/15 season Tobias Kammerlander ended his active career as a Nordic combined athlete.

He is the older brother of Carlos Kammerlander , who was also a Nordic combined competitor and was used in the Nordic Combined World Cup. They both went to the Bundesgymnasium and Sportrealgymnasium in Saalfelden . He also has two other brothers.
