Tobias Przytarski (born October 29, 1959 in Berlin ) is a priest and has been provost of St. Hedwig since January 17, 2017 .

Life

Przytarski studied philosophy and theology in Paderborn and canon law in Rome. After his ordination in 1984 in Rome, he was initially a chaplain in various Berlin parishes, from 1991 to 1997 pastor of the St. Anne's parish in Berlin-Lichterfelde and from 1997 to 2001 pastor of St. Hildegard in Berlin-Frohnau . In addition, he was diocesan director for clerical professions from 1989 to 2001 and as a hospital chaplain at the Steglitz Clinic from 1993 to 1997 .

From 2001 to 2012 Tobias Przytarski was the official of the Archdiocese of Berlin, after having served as a judge at the ecclesiastical court of the Archdiocese since 1997 . From 2005 to 2012 Przytarski also headed the Catholic Office in the Commissariat of the Catholic Bishops in Berlin and Brandenburg, which is responsible for relations between church and politics in Berlin and Brandenburg. He was founded in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed monsignor and appointed to the Berlin cathedral chapter by Archbishop Georg Cardinal Sterzinsky .

On January 4, 2012, Archbishop Rainer Maria Cardinal Woelki announced the appointment of Msgr. Przytarski as Vicar General of the Archdiocese from March 1, 2012 and introduced him to his office on March 1. On June 22, 2012, the Holy See appointed Mgr. Przytarski a prelate . In 2013 Cardinal Woelki was appointed Chairman of the Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Berlin and successor to Stefan Dybowski .

On July 11, 2014, Cardinal Woelki appointed him deputy diocesan administrator for the Archdiocese of Berlin. After the Archbishop's See became vacant on September 20, 2014, the Metropolitan Chapter near St. Hedwig elected him diocesan administrator on September 22. His deputy was Cathedral Chapter Stefan Dybowski. They held the offices until Archbishop Heiner Koch's inauguration on September 19, 2015. Archbishop Heiner Koch appointed Tobias Przytarski as his vicar general on September 19.

On November 1, 2016, Archbishop Heiner Koch appointed him the new Provost of the Archdiocese. The inauguration was on January 17, 2017. On February 1, 2017 he was replaced as Vicar General by Manfred Kollig SSCC .
