Tobias Wiemann

Tobias Wiemann (born May 18, 1981 in Greifswald ) is a German film director .

Life

Wiemann was born in Greifswald in 1981 and grew up in Western Pomerania . After various theater internships, he completed vocational training as a media designer for image and sound at the Institute for New Media in Rostock . From 2003 to 2008 he worked at United Motion Video and Film Production in the areas of project development, camera and editing.

From 2008 to 2013 he worked for Til Schweigers Barefoot Films. In addition to project development and production assistance, he worked as a video operator on the cinema productions 1½ Ritter - In Search of the Adorable Herzelinde (2008) and Zweiohrküken (2009). In 2013 he made his debut as a feature film writer and director with Großstadtklein . As part of the 67th Berlinale , his film Amelie rennt celebrated its world premiere in the "Generation Kplus" competition and received an honorable mention for the Transparent Bear . The film received numerous awards at national and international festivals. At the German Film Prize 2018 it was awarded as Best Children's Film.

He has been married to Jytte-Merle Böhrnsen since October 2013 , with whom he has one child.
