Career

Nakamura is the son of a Japanese father and a German mother. After training with Martin Fauster (one Michelin star ) at the Hotel Königshof from 2004 to 2007, he went to Joachim Wissler's three-star restaurant in Vendôme in 2008 . In 2010 he moved to the three-star restaurant Oud Sluis under Sergio Herman , where he became sous chef in 2011 . In 2012 further training followed in Tokyo , including in the three-star restaurant Ishikawa . Since July 2012, Nakamura has been working in project management and culinary advice at Geisel Private Hotels in Munich.

In the spring of 2013 he became head chef at Geisels Werneckhof in Munich, which was awarded a Michelin star and 17 points in Gault Millau in 2014, and since 2016 the restaurant has been rated with 18 points in Gault Millau. In 2016 it was awarded two Michelin stars. In Gault & Millau 2020, which was published in November 2019, the Werneckhof received 19 points for the first time and Tohru Nakamura was named "Chef of the Year". In June 2020, Geisel Privathotels announced that the Werneckhof will be closed. This was justified by the fact that operation was not possible under the conditions applicable at the time due to the corona epidemic.

In November 2017 and at the Christmas special in 2018 he was a guest judge at The Taste , in 2018 Nakamura took part in the TV show Kitchen Impossible with Tim Mälzer . In April 2018, he appeared in the cooking show Knife Fight Club .
