Joachim Wissler

Joachim Wissler (born January 13, 1963 in Nürtingen ) is a German chef .

Life

Wissler comes from a family who runs the Engelhof, an agricultural property near Ochsenwang on the Swabian Alb, which until a few years ago also included an inn. After his training from 1980 to 1983 at Traube-Tonbach in Baiersbronn , Joachim Wissler worked, among other things, at the Weißen Rössle in Hinterzarten and at Brenners Parkhotel in Baden-Baden .

In 1991 he became head chef at the Marcobrunn restaurant in Erbach Castle Reinhartshausen , which received a Michelin star in 1995 and a second star in 1996.

Since 2000 he has been head chef of the Vendôme restaurant in the Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg , which belongs to the chain of hotelier Thomas Althoff ( Althoff Hotels ). Under his leadership, it was awarded one star by the Michelin Guide in 2001 ; finally with three stars since 2006.

According to the gastronomy critic Jürgen Dollase , Wissler is one of the most important representatives of "modern culinary art between classical techniques and avant-garde".

Joachim Wissler lives with his wife and child in the Bergisches Land .
