Sven Elverfeld

Sven Elverfeld (born November 3, 1968 in Hanau ) is a German chef .

biography

Elverfeld began his career as a pastry chef in the Hessian province and then completed a second apprenticeship as a cook.

During his career, he worked as a sous- chef at the Hessler restaurant in Maintal-Dörnigheim and as a chef de partie at the Dieter Müller restaurant in the Lerbach castle hotel in Bergisch Gladbach . Further stations were the Gutsschänke Schloss Johannisberg in Geisenheim under the direction of Dieter Biesler , the Humperdinck restaurant in Frankfurt am Main and the gourmet restaurant La Bouillabaisse in the Minos Beach Hotel on Crete .

His career at Ritz-Carlton began in 1998 when he graduated as a state-certified restaurateur and master chef at the hotel management school in Heidelberg . Before the opening of the Aqua restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg , Elverfeld ran the La Baie gourmet restaurant at The Ritz Carlton in Dubai .

Awards

In 2002 Elverfeld was named “Newcomer of the Year” by Gault Millau , and two years later by the same restaurant guide as “Chef of the Year”. The Michelin Guide awarded the Aqua its first star in 2002, the second star followed in 2006 and the restaurant has been awarded three stars in the Michelin Guide since 2009. The Bunte rated him in 2005 as the “Most Creative Chef of the Year”, the magazine Der Feinschmecker named Elverfeld “Chef of the Year” in 2007, included the Aqua among the ten best trendy restaurants in Germany and rated it in their 2010 restaurant guide with 5 out of 5 possible “ F “s. Since 2012, the Aqua has been listed in the Hornstein ranking with 99.3 points at first place and has been awarded 3 crowns. The Schlemmer Atlas 2013 gave it the top grade of 5 cooking spoons. In 2014, the Elverfeld-run Aqua restaurant improved to 28th place in The World's 50 Best Restaurants ; thereafter Elverfeld is the second best German chef after Joachim Wissler . In 2018, the culinary critics named the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung , Jürgen Dollase , chef of the year. This was based on the fact that his influence on young chefs was "to a considerable extent" responsible for the development of an independent top German cuisine.
