Tomé Makhweliha

Tomé Makhweliha SCI (born January 2, 1945 in Mpwaha ) is a Mozambican religious and retired Archbishop of Nampula .

Life

Tomé Makhweliha joined the Congregation of Dehonians at and received on 8 December 1973, the priestly ordination .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Pemba on October 24, 1997 . The Archbishop of Nampula, Manuel Vieira Pinto , donated him episcopal ordination on January 18 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Januário Machaze Nhangumbe , former bishop of Pemba, and Manuel Chuanguira Machado , bishop of Gurué .

On November 16, 2000 he was appointed Archbishop of Nampula. On July 25, 2016, Pope Francis accepted his resignation.
