Tom Launhardt
Thomas Otto Launhardt (born March 4, 1963 in Wehrda ; † June 10, 2016 in Braunfels ) was a German guitar maker (actually a master of the plucked instrument- making trade) and a publicly appointed and sworn expert for the plucked instrument- making trade.
Life
Tom Launhardt completed his apprenticeship at the traditional German manufacturer Dieter Hopf , where he repaired the instruments of Sebastião Tapajós and Baden Powell de Aquino as an apprentice . He has been running his own medium-sized company, Launhardt guitar studio and master workshop, since 1993, initially in Wetzlar , since 2010 in nearby Ehringshausen, and since 2015 in Leun.
The specialty of the Launhardt instruments is that they are widely recognized in all musical genres . His best-known customers include Ferenc Snétberger , Michael Sagmeister , Simon Triebel ( July ), Paul Landers ( Rammstein ), Alex Conti , TM Stevens , Ole Rausch ( Laith Al-Deen ), Frieder Gottwald , Sascha Gerstner ( Helloween ), Ralf Oehmichen ( De-Phazz ), Jonas Hellborg , Katharina Franck ( Rainbirds ), Jens Hausmann and many more
Since 2006 there has also been a series of guitar classics made in Korea by Launhardt and the German amplifier manufacturer AER. He built small series and custom-made products for the brands Dean-Guitars and Hoyer (guitars) .
Tom Launhardt was an authorized "retrofitter" for the tuning system developed by Buzz Feiten, which transfers a kind of well-tempered tuning to guitars and bass guitars. Due to his extensive knowledge of the art of guitar making, he was repeatedly z. B. consulted for specialist books. At the Musikmesse in Frankfurt in 2011, he was awarded the German Musical Instrument Prize in the " Archtop guitar with pickup" category for his model FS-2 .
After he received this award, he was invited to the jury of this award and contributed his expertise to it every two years.
In 2012, he was also convened by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training in Bonn to join a committee that worked out a reorganization for training as a plucked instrument maker. After the successful implementation of this regulation, he also played a key role in the new regulation for master plucked instrument makers.
