Thomas Abraham Misch (born June 25, 1995 in London ) is a British musician.

Life

Misch grew up in London as the son of an artist and a psychiatrist. He was promoted early in music. As a child, he learned the violin using the Suzuki method . He first developed a taste for rock as a teenager and began to learn the guitar, which he played to pieces by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana . In sixth grade he discovered J Dilla and began programming his own hip-hop beats. Misch studied Music Technology at the Langley Park School for Boys and then jazz guitar at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

From 2012 he started uploading his beats via Soundcloud . Various rappers used his beats and he himself worked with the singer-songwriter Carmody . The two released the EP Out to Sea in 2014 . The mixtape Beat Tape 1 was released in the same year . Memory , a track dedicated to the late J Dilla, received praise from his mother.

In 2015, Beat Tape 2 followed , on which he again worked with Carmody, but also had Loyle Carner and Zak Abel as guests. The EP Reverie followed in 2016, and a live EP in 2017.

In 2018 he finally released his debut album Geography , which reached number 8 on the British charts and received a silver record there . Among other things, De La Soul worked here as a guest . What kinda Music followed in 2020 , a collaboration with jazz drummer Yussef Dayes . The single Nightrider features guest vocals from Freddie Gibbs . Alba Wilczek ( Bayerischer Rundfunk ) wrote in the review of What Kinda Music , Misch and Yussef Dayes managed to combine acid jazz and pop with each other in an incredibly smooth mixture.

In the summer of 2021, Misch will appear as the opening act on a few dates as part of the Eric Clapton Summer European Tour 2021 .
