Tom Pukstys

Tom Pukstys (actually Thomas P. Pukstys ; born May 28, 1968 in Glen Ellyn ) is a former American javelin thrower .

After he was eliminated in qualification at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , he was tenth at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and ninth at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart. A qualification at the 1995 World Cup in Gothenburg was followed by eighth place at the Olympic Games in Atlanta a year later . At the 1997 World Cup in Athens and the 2001 World Cup in Edmonton, he failed again in qualifying.

For the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he fulfilled the A-norm, but still had to stay at home because he was defeated in the US elimination match Breaux Greer , who had not reached this norm. After he had just missed participation in the Olympic Games in Athens four years later as fourth in the US eliminations , he retired from competitive sports.

In total, he was American champion six times. He achieved his best length of 87.12 m on May 25, 1997 in Jena .

Tom Pukstys is 1.88 meters tall and weighs 98 kg. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in public relations .
