Toney Douglas (born March 16, 1986 in Jonesboro , Georgia ) is an American basketball player. He is currently playing the position of point guard in Basketbol Süper Ligi for Anadolu Efes SK , after having been active in the NBA for years.
After four years at Florida State University , Toney Douglas signed up for the 2009 NBA draft . He was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round in 29th place and transferred to the New York Knicks on the same day for a compensation amount and a second-round draft pick . In the first year he played an average of 19.4 minutes in 56 games and scored 8.6 points and 2 assists . In his second year he was on the field for an average of 24.3 minutes in 81 games, scoring 10.6 points with 3 assists. To this day, these are his career highs. The next year he received significantly less playing time.
On July 11, 2012 he joined the Houston Rockets with Josh Harrellson , Jerome Jordan and two second round draft picks in exchange for Marcus Camby .
On February 20, 2013, he was transferred to the Sacramento Kings along with Cole Aldrich , Patrick Patterson and a compensation amount. The Kings received Francisco García , Tyler Honeycutt and Thomas Robinson for this .
On July 18, 2013, Douglas was hired as a free agent by the Golden State Warriors . He got a one-year contract. At the Warriors, however, Douglas was not able to convince as hoped and was transferred to the Miami Heat via trade in January 2014 . With the defending champion, however, Douglas lost the play-off final series of the NBA 2013/14 against the San Antonio Spurs . The following season, Douglas moved to the Chinese Basketball Association for the Dragons from Jiangsu . In March 2015, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans for the remainder of the season .
