Tonight was the third single from the third studio album by the American band Jonas Brothers . The song was released on January 4, 2009, but already entered the charts in August 2008. The single was announced during the American Music Awards in November 2008.

Origin and inspiration

During the Jonas Brothers Countdown to A Little Bit Longer iTunes podcast to mark the release of the band's third album, Nick Jonas said the following:

“The song is about being in a relationship with someone and getting into an argument with someone who cannot be eliminated that night. (The song) is one of my favorite songs on the album. "

- Extract from the podcast:

"This song is about being in a relationship with somebody and getting into arguments that will not work out that night. It's also one of my favorite songs on the album. "

Music video

The music video was shot by Bruce Hendricks , who directed both the video and the band's 3D concert film, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience . In the video you can see excerpts from this film: Live recordings of the piece as well as some backstage scenes.

Charts and chart placements

The song reached the Billboard charts in America as a result of a promotional deal with iTunes in August 2008 through downloads, although it was not yet officially published at that time (see: A Little Bit Longer ). After the release of the soundtrack for their 3D concert film, the song hit the charts again and climbed to number 71. In America, it reached number eight and has since been the band's most successful single to date after Burnin 'Up . The song even reached number 2 in the American download charts and 13th in Canada.
