The Toporowa Cyrhla is a district of the Polish town of Zakopane in the Western Tatras in the Tatra County in the Malopolska province .

location

The district is located on the Panoramaweg Oswald-Balzer-Weg at an altitude of 950-1040 meters above sea level, right on the border with the Tatra National Park .

history

The place was created in 1632, but remained very sparsely populated for a long time. The place was not settled until after 1878. In the 20th century, the Mariana monastery was founded in the district . In the 20th century, the Pod 7 Kotami inn was a meeting place for intellectuals from Zakopane, including Karol Szymanowski and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz .

etymology

The name can be translated as " slash and burn of the Topór", whereby the Topór are a family of the Góralen . Their name can be translated as "ax", but has nothing to do with the type of clearing. The local area was won by slash and burn in the 17th century.

tourism

A hiking trail to the High Tatras and a hiking trail to the Western Tatras begin in the municipality .
