Tor Marius Gromstad (born July 8, 1989 in Arendal , † May 12, 2012 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian football player . The central defender played for Stabæk Fotball in the Tippeligaen . After his debut in the summer of 2008, he played 36 first division games for the club, in which he was unsuccessful.
Career
Gromstad began his career in his hometown with the local club FK Arendal , with whose youth team he won the South Norwegian youth championship in 2005. There the defender and midfielder drew attention to himself in early 2007. After he had rejected a first offer from first division club Stabæk Fotball despite the offer of admission to the sports high school in order to concentrate on his school career in his hometown, he flew with the club's team to a training camp in La Manga del Mar Menor, Spain, in February of that year . In the same year he changed clubs, but was initially only active in the youth of Stabæk Fotball.
On July 21, 2008 Gromstad debuted in the 5-1 win over Fredrikstad FK as a substitute for Mike Kjølø , a total of three short appearances in the 2008 season to win the championship. Initially mainly a supplementary player, he was also part of the starting line-up in the 2010 season at the side of Veigar Páll Gunnarsson , Espen Hoff and Henning Hauger . In the last third of the 2011 season he advanced to become a regular under Swedish coach Jörgen Lennartsson . His successor Petter Belsvik also relied on him, at the beginning of the following season he formed the center-back duo together with Sean Cunningham in six of the first eight games of the season.
On May 13, 2012, Gromstad was reported missing after being last seen the previous day and his club reached out to the public for assistance in the search. The morning of the following day he was found dead on a construction site in Oslo.
