Torolf Mølgaard
Torolf Mølgaard (* 8. June 1939 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish trombonist of modern jazz .
Live and act
Mølgaard, who played the tuba in the local wind orchestra when he was nine and taught himself to play the trombone when he was fifteen, initially worked as a military musician, but also performed with the Saratoga Jazz Band in Aarhus . From 1961 he played regularly with Jesper Thilo and in 1964 became a member of the Danish Radio Big Band , where he stayed until 1973 and also performed with George Russell and Don Cherry . He also performed with the Kenny Clarke / Francy Boland Big Band , on whose album Out of the Folk Bag he was involved. He then played in the big band of Sender Freies Berlin , before moving to Frankfurt in 1977 to the hr big band , where he worked until 2003 ( Christian Jaksjø was his successor ). He also played with the group Trombones United, which he directed, and with the woofer ensembles Low Brass and Tuba Jazz Incorporated . He has also appeared with Peter Herbolzheimer , Gustl Mayer and Knut Kiesewetter and can also be heard on records by Ernst Mosch and Marianne Rosenberg .
