Tosin Oke

Tosin Oke (born October 1, 1980 in London ) is a Nigerian - British triple jumper .

The dual national grew up in London and Lagos . Two years after he started with the triple jump, he won the 1999 European Junior Championships in Riga.

In 2002 he was starting fifth for England at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester . At the European Athletics Championships in Munich he reached the final, but remained there without a valid attempt. Due to the strong domestic competition ( Jonathan Edwards , Onochie Achike , Phillips Idowu and Nathan Douglas ) he was denied further assignments at major international events. After the association did not nominate him for the World Athletics Championships in Osaka in 2007, even after improving to 16.86 m , the decision matured to compete for his other home country.

From 2009 he started for Nigeria. At the World Cup in Berlin , he was eliminated in qualification. The following year he won the African Championships in Nairobi and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi . In 2011 he won after another preliminary round at the World Cup in Daegu at the Pan-African Games in Mabuto .

In 2012 he defended his title at the African Championships in Porto Novo and finished seventh at the Olympic Games in London .

In 2014 he won the silver medal in the triple jump at both the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the African Championships in Marrakech .

Tosin Oke is 1.79 m tall and weighs 77 kg. From 2004 to 2008 he was trained by John Herbert, then, as in his youth, by Guy Spencer.
