Toto IV is the fourth studio album by the US band Toto . It was released on Columbia Records in April 1982 .

history

On the fourth album, Toto concentrated even more on writing catchy melodies and simpler lyrics. In addition to the quiet Rosanna , Africa soon became a hit. After the recordings, bassist David Hungate left the band. For the album, the group then toured Japan , the USA and Europe, where they also made a stop in Mannheim on September 18, 1982 .

Success and criticism

The album peaked at number 4 in the UK and the US. In Germany it reached number 12. In Australia, Canada and the Netherlands it reached number one on the charts. The record won six Grammy Awards , including the one for Album of the Year.

On the website Allmusic.com the reviewer gave 4.5 out of 5 stars. He wrote that the album was both a comeback and a highlight for the group.
