The 4th stage of the Tour de France 2013 on July 2nd was a team time trial over 25 km that led around Nice . There was an interim timing at kilometer 13.
Race course
The world champion team from Omega Pharma-Quick-Step initially lived up to expectations and set the fastest intermediate time. In the end, the team achieved a time of 25:57 minutes. With an average speed of 57.8 km / h, she set a new speed record in the Tour de France team time trial. The Saxo-Tinkoff team came within a second of the Omega Pharma drivers at the intermediate measuring point, but in the end they were eight seconds behind and thus behind the Sky team in third place.
However, the victory went to the Orica-GreenEdge team, which in the meantime was still three seconds behind Omega Pharma, but undercut their record at the finish by one second. The team thus secured the lead in the team standings , Simon Gerrans took over the yellow jersey of the overall leader from Jan Bakelants .
