The 1st stage of the Tour de France 2013 took place on June 29, 2013. It ran entirely on Corsica and led from Porto-Vecchio over 213 km to Bastia . In the course of the stage there was a mountain classification in the fourth category and a sprint classification. So the first stage counted as a flat stage. All 198 registered drivers started.

Race course

The stage was unusual: When the drivers were around ten kilometers from the finish, the Orica GreenEdge team bus got stuck under the finish line. Initially, it was decided to bring the destination three kilometers forward. Finally it was possible to get the bus off the route in time so that the original destination was free again. During this time, there were several falls in which numerous favorites such as Tony Martin , Peter Sagan and Mark Cavendish were involved.
